Mani's Remarks: "I'm sure those of you familiar with the character are wondering just why in the heck is a priestess-in-training serving ale at the local tavern. To this I ask really, how many of us took odd jobs in college? Even priestesses need money, y'know =) For those of you not familiar with her, Ms. Abigail Summers is a student at Glenshire Abbey. She is a devotee of Sulienne, the goddess of fertility, and is attending the school to prepare for her eventual priestly duties. While she was very straight-laced when she arrived at Glenshire, she has loosened up immensely since then. I decided to go for the whole tavern motif here in honor of St. Patty's Day being this month. I swear, that day makes alcoholics out of everyone... I tried a bit of a different shading technique around her face, eliminating a lot of the harsher lines that were previously in the scan. I really like the way it turned out (especially around her neck and jaw line), so I'll definitely be using that again in the future." Random Sidenote: "A few people have been asking as to why the drink she's holding is called 'The Khanjar'. I promised that I would explain, so here we go =) In our current Glenshire Abbey campaign, Khanjar is the name of one of the characters in our party, played by Keith. Khanjar, being a massive Orc and all, is one of the major head-busters in the group. At one point early in the campaign, the party found themselves in a bit of a delicate situation involving a Kobold with an explosive magical gem in his hand, and who was not afraid to use it. Khanjar, electing to respond in a diplomatic manner, simply picked up a chair and flung it at the offending creature. Keith made his attack roll, and to be blunt, smote the ever-loving hell out of the poor thing. Since that moment, one of Khanjar's signatures was the pummeling of enemies with whatever piece of furniture happened to be at hand. This has included, and is not nearly limited to, chairs, tables, benches (complete with a Gnome still dangling from it), and the infamous church pew (blessed by the party's Paladin), which was used to cause grievous amounts of bodily harm against an undead dragon that was attacking the city. Khanjar has a bit of an attachment to Ms. Abigail Summers, and consequently will do just about anything in his power to protect her. I played with that dynamic a bit while I was sketching this, deciding to name the drink after the infamous Orc. Why? As they like to tell you at the tavern, 'Because it hits you harder than a chair-shot to the back of the head!'"
