Mani's Remarks: "Not all mages have long beards, pointy hats, and spell books the size of War and Peace! Dexter here isn't a particular character from anything specifically from Glenshire, but I'm still working on compiling several drawings of random students from around the school. Well, I needed a mage, and a couple of sketches later, we've got Mr. Alunarii here. It took me a few days to figure out what to do with the background- I opted to keep it simple, but figured that it'd be nice to have something back there. Coloring this also gave me a chance to work on one of my favorite techniques in Photoshop, that being wood textures, as seen in the staff. Don't know why, actually, but I do enjoy the texturing process.

And yes, I realize that Dexter probably isn't the most Elvish of names. It's probably a variation of his real one, having gotten sick of hearing people mispronounce it. Heaven knows that I can sympathize!"

Random Sidenote: "So, what's the story with that weapon? Well, I've dubbed it a Soul Rod, and I'll be sure to include stats for them in the book. Essentially, it's a quarterstaff with a magic crystal embedded on the inside, which channels the wielder's own energy into a burst that can be fired at an enemy. Think of it as a magical shotgun, if you will. It's just always amused me that mages stereotypically get, if you'll forgive the pun, shafted with their weapon choices; it's either a staff, a wand, or if you're lucky, a knife of some sort. Well, at least that's what it felt like playing D&D sometimes!"
