Glenshire Abbey
Back row: Chef-in-Training Guntarg, Head of the
Thieves' Guild Julcinda
Marin, and Martial Artist Corina Dakessa. Front row: Magery/Combat Student Bryce Darude Farington, Engineer/Chemist
Dolan Gamgee, Healer Abigail Summers, and Warrior-in-Training Eric Dulcimer.
These are several of the NPC's that have popped up in the BESM campaign that I was running. Orcish chef Guntarg (back row) was a constant source of comic relief for the group, as he would often times alternate from broken-orc speak to very proper English at the drop of a hat. Granted he tried to keep up the facade of being the big, nasty orc, but Galen's character (who ended up being his roommate) easily saw right through him. Dead center is Julcinda (AKA Julie), head of Glenshire Abbey's most commonly disavowed guild. Thievery isn't exactly an endorsed major at The Abbey, but it is offered if one knows where to look. Next we have Ms. Corina, a martial artist that popped up in our last session. The Martial Arts Club was giving a bit of a demonstration in the courtyard of The Abby, and Corina had several of the male students in a trance as she stood balanced on a table, while holding one leg over her head.
On the front row we begin with Bryce, a half-elf that also serves as the guy's dorm advisor, and also seems to know about everything that's going on around campus. Being a Senior level student, he was pretty much the go-to guy should any of the PC's ever need anything. Next to him we have Dolan (AKA Dole), darling of the Engineering department at Glenshire. He's hailed as one of the most brilliant students at the Abby, but whether or not his sanity holds will be the question. His roommate ended up being Aaron's character (a jester in training, mind you), who's tendency to touch everything made the young Gnome quite antsy. Next to him we have Abigail, a freshman along with the rest of the PC's, studying to be a Healer. She's led a bit of a sheltered life and is quite naive to the ways of the world, but Abby's a sweetheart that will talk the ear off of anyone that happens to listen. For you truly observant Club Ninja disciples, yes indeed that is Eric Dulcimer of NuRPG fame to the far right. I figured that he'd be an interesting addition to the roster, so he's been imported into the campaign as a Senior level student as well. He's best friends with Bryce, and also serves as a go-to guy should anyone need any help. Also worthy of note is the fact that he recently discovered that Abby has a bit of a crush him, but he's a bit too shy to say anything to her about it yet.
Technical Thoughts
This wasn't one massive drawing, as it may appear here. Actually, each
character was drawn individually, scanned, then moved to the proper position.
Not including the background and the text, this ended up being 42 freaking
Layers (7 characters * 6 Layers each) in Photoshop!
I'm pleased with the way this turned out, but in retrospect I see a few things that I'd like to change/adjust in the future. I guess my main concern is to find a way to make the outlines a bit smoother, because they look a little jagged in some places. The biggest pain overall? Julie's hair! I may end up going back through and touching up on a few things here and there, but I have to say that I'm happy with this one.
