"Larhgrimm's Boots of Blatant Disrespect"
[ Photoshop Over Pen ]

Mani's Remarks: "I came across an old sketch that I had attempted to color in Photoshop pre-Stylus. Of course I knew that I could do better now, so I opted to give it a go. And I'll have you know that this drawing was done way before Leonidas made kicking grown men in the chest fashionable =)

Since I'd been given more time to work on Glenshire Abbey due to Guardian's bankruptcy's woes, I decided to go back and bulk the book up a bit, which included adding some random artifacts and relics. I'm not entirely certain how I came up with the concept of Larhgrimm's Boots of Blatant Disrespect, but I'm pretty sure it had something to do with Khanjar the Orc kicking somebody in the chest in one of our campaigns. The boot's namesake, Larhgrimm, was an Orc chieftain that ruled with somewhat of a heavy hand, and consequently was paranoid about the possibility of his minions rising up against him. In order to deal with this, he had a mage craft a pair of boots that would demoralize an opponent upon striking them, which served as an effective way to keep his underlings in line. Of course once they figured out what was going on, his slaves stole the boots while he was sleeping, and Larhgrimm was never heard from again. I was going to introduce a character in-game that was in possession of the boots, but I began to worry about what would happen if our buck-wild Orc got his hands on an item that forced a Morale Check every time he kicked something.

What amuses me to no end is the fact that if you take a look at my notes for potential artifacts for Glenshire Abbey, next to these boots you'll see the phrase 'You disrespect me?! I'LL KICK YOU COCK-EYED!'. I just have to laugh every time I see that, just imagining some random Orc shouting it out as he plants his foot on some poor soul's face. I think I need help, or at the very least some medication."

Random Sidenote: "'KER-BOOT'?

I think that it's no secret that I'm a huge fan of Fred Perry, and nothing cracks me and my friends up more than his tendency to put the phrase 'KER' before any sort of action. Y'know, like 'KER-TOSS!' and my personal favorite, 'KER-CATCH!'. Well, after I finished redoing this one, I thought that it needed a little something extra to give it some more emphasis, and figured that this would be something suitably random. Much love to Fred Perry and the rest of the Gold Digger crew!"
