Mani's Remarks: "Woody Cole... now here's an interesting fellow...

I've made several attempt to describe him to friends, and the phrase that seems to come up the most is Angry Redneck Mage. Which is actually a pretty accurate assessment of the man, giving it some thought. Basically, he's a prime example of what happens when one gets great power, and says screw the responsibility. Woody was a brawl-happy, cantankerous jackass even before he realized he had magical talent, which only made him an even bigger jerk. If JBL and Colonel Stinkmeaner from The Boondocks had a night of shame, the end result would be something akin to Harland Woodrow Cole here.

From a technical standpoint, this is officially the fastest piece I've created. The sketch work, inking, scanning, and coloring was all done within a span of less than 12 hours. Hey, when you get into the zone, who am I to deny it?"

Random Sidenote: "Now where did this guy come from? Well, it starts with a running joke with our gaming group, all stemming from a line from one of my favorite Outkast songs, Spottie Ottie Dopaliscious off of 'Aquemini'. In that narrative, Andre 3000 talks about the reality of going to clubs nowadays, and utters the now-infamous phrase 'Now who else wanna f@#k with Hollywood Cole'? The name became our generic moniker for any sort of shit-starting badass, especially one of the roughhousing variety. As a joke, I wanted to incorporate a character based off of that in the game at some point; while I didn't get a chance to bring him into that particular campaign, it did get the ball rolling on his design. I figured that it would have been too obvious to have a regular fighter for the role (and the campaign already had one pub-brawling badass running around), and thought it would be a humorous change of pace to make him a brawl-happy mage. Because really, who expects a mage to start a bar fight?

So now, the question is... who else wanna f@#k with Woody Cole? =) "
